I have met one that I can think of I believe her name

is Gwyn and she teaches astanga in Europe. I met her

when she was assisting Lino Mieli?? when he was

traveling in the US a couple of years ago.

P.S. She is a fantastic teacher. If you go to the

official astanga website and look for pictures of Lino

next to him in some you will see an older woman with

curly hair - that's her.

I am an "Old" Ashtanga, age 52, I started to practice 4 years ago and am now

doing teacher training. My practice continues to advance and I continue to get

stronger. I had an 80 year old teacher once who liked to say, "Do yoga and as

you get older, you will get younger. None of us know how much longer we have

left. Live in the present!

All these responses are a great inspiration to read. I'm 41 and

returned to yoga in the last year after being away from most of the

90's. Previously I'd only done Iyengar and I've only just found

Ashtanga. I've been taking some led classes in addition to some

Iyengar, and am thinking about starting mysore classes with my

teacher (who has Guruji's permission to teach and in whom I'm so far

very confident). I have moderate flexibility in general, but not

yoga, terms, and do not yet have much strength or endurance, so there

is lots of opportunity for me. I often wonder how far I can really go

with Asthanga and admit that I do sometimes envy those who are

finding it while still in their 20's and early 30's. Mostly I tend to

look at it as an exploration.
