Guest guest
Hi there, Conceivably, one could perform all the standing postures beginning with Padangustasna. But due to the distraction factor, I don't try to be too strict keeping to the series but rather try to make a practice that is appropriate to the situation. Generally, we begin in tadasana, gently shake out each leg, make your hips, knees, and ankles happy and warm. I do a kind of warm-up leg rotation, hands on hips, extend one leg at a time, w/heel about 3-5 " off floor, than rotate the entire leg from the hip socket out and inward. Foot flexed, quads active, knees extended but not locked. After a couple of these for each leg, Padangustasana and padahastasana are wonderful. Careful with turbulence. From here we can lower into a deep squat and really wake up the legs or sink into Utkatasana if your feeling strong and need to dissipate some energy. Virhabadrasana A and B are both good and you can place your drishti through the little round window on the exit doors that you will be staring at. While not mentioned, the breath and bandhas can be activated, although the air in the back of a plane is often not particularly pleasant. Be creative and you can really make a plane flight much more bearable. Good wishes to you and have a peaceful December and New Years!
