Guest guest
In order to practice full Padmasana, your hips need to be very open. Since the primary series is chock full of hip openers (Virabhadrasanas I &II, the Janu Sirsasanas, the Marichasanas, Badha Konasana, etc.), your hips will eventually open as you continue working your way through the series. If you want to do a little extra work, though, you could always hold the hip opening postures for more than five breaths. I know this has helped me to open my right hip, which was tighter than the left. Good luck!
