Guest guest
If I'm picturing this correctly and based on what I usually see with intermediate and advanced practictioners it sounds like you are holding yourself up and trying to go deeper into the pose by pressing into the shoulders. My suggestion is to take your arms a little wider to start bend the elbows out to the sides slide the shoulders away from the neck (without forcing) and then slowly lengthen the outside of the arms. Then relax the head. It's much easier to show this with someone practicing in class by lifting up on the traps. The feeling you end up with is that your weight is even on the arms and legs and the arms are connected into the back and the body forms a straight line. Eventually the center of the body will let go as the shoulders etc open and your head will rest on the floor. Hope that helps. In several different asanas, especially during downward facing dog, I get a burning sensation in my arms at the connection between the shoulder and the upper arm. If you placed a triangle on your shoulder muscle and pointed it downward, the bottom most point is where I feel this sensation. It feels as if it is very fatigued or stressed. This seems like some kind of injury and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so what they thought. I have also noticed it while doing other more daily activities. Thanks again.
