Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your advice. Maybe I should see a doctor and have my blood tested. I'm not on any diet and eat what I want, when I want. I just naturally eat high protein, low fat. I always have, so I haven't changed my diet much since starting yoga 7 months ago, I just stopped snacking so much and feeling hungry all the time. I just continue to drop weight for no apparent reason. I have been thinking about the doctors, but I live in Japan and it isn't easy to find a doctor that speaks enough English to understand, but I suppose if there is a chance of something serious I should go. I was just thinking that it is very natural when doing yoga to drop weight, hence why I asked all these questions. Thanks for the messages and I will still continue my yoga routine since it makes me feel like I'm on the top of the world. Karen

First, if you are anywhere near Kyoto check out my ex-roommate from the University of Michigan. His name is Mitsuhari Seiki and I think he is OBY/GYN and internal medicine. His english then was passable and I taught him some American slang. Second, I been following this thread kind of closely and judging from what you are talking about in you diet I do not think that you are diabetic or hypoglycemic. Let me explain. When I started out with ashstanga yoga I weighed 358 lbs, morbid obesity; most type 2 diabetics are overweight and obese. It is exceedingly rare to find a type 2 in your class. I now weigh 162 lbs. and I have lost alot weight over almost three years. When I was 230 lbs, I displayed your symptoms and had normal blood sugars. I also was eating a high protein, low carb, no fat diet. The problem for me was I wasn't getting quick energy. My body was signaling that cracking the fat and breaking down the proteins was not cutting it; add quick fuel. That is when I discovered quality low glycemic carbs (organic whole grains), fruits (slow burning sugars), and good fats (olive, macadamia, sesame, hemp, fish). I am 90% vegetarian and I am slowly weaning myself down on meats, but I still love seafood. You don't say you are eating Japanese. If you are eating a traditional Japanese diet then your weight loss is not surprising. Try adding more vegetables, at least 3-5 servings in fruit/day and definitely about 2 tablespoons of the oils somewhere in your diet. If you can get hands on some quality vitamin C (NOW, e.g.), then supplement at 3 grams/divided doses/day. Vitamin C increases the oxygen capacity and increases energy. Hope this helps you. Guest guest
Zeke: Thanks so much. Actually I used to live near Kyoto, but not anymore, too bad. I live near Mt Fuji now. I would have definately visited your friend. However, you have put my mind at ease. I actually was tested for thyroid problems and diabetes many times in my life, most recent 7 months ago, but I always come out in the clear. After I do yoga, I don't feel run down, it's after a full day of work. I do eat mostly a traditional japanese diet. I was actually almost vegan until i moved to Japan, now I eat a lot of fish, natural foods and oils. I eat fruit and veggies every day plus I try to eat high protein, as I said before. I was just worried that I went from 134lbs to 103 or so lbs in 7 months, but I totally feel like my body has detoxed from yoga. I really feel way more sensitive to foods my body doesn't like and when i eat those, yoga helps me stomach feel better. Thanks for your story too. WOw, you also have really come a long way. I'm sure you feel amazing as well. Karen ashtanga yoga, "zekes7" <zekes7> wrote: > ashtanga yoga, karencoolkid <no_reply> > wrote: > Karen: > Why didn't you say that were living in Japan!
