hard to tell. backing off is a always a good idea at first. this way you can

continue your practice uninterupted. but i know people who like ashtanga, tend

to like pushing themselves.(always forward) so this may be hard for you but

maybe not. i don't know you personally.

back to your situation. you say your almost there. Well i find with students

and myself, that it's just when someone is almost anywhere in there practice

,they tend to push more. So try backing off on jump throughs. maybe just jump

to easy pose for a while. if this aleviates the pain good. keep it up for a

while then go back to full effort.

best if you can, let me know how you make out.

best to you

I have a similar problem with my left shoulder.

Sometimes, the pain is unbearable. Don't know what

caused it. The following give me temporary relief:

1) Shoulder shrugs.

2) Dragonfly pose (I think) - Lay down face down on

your belly in full prostration. Then come up on the

elbows. Criss cross your arms until you feel it in

your shoulders. After a few breaths, do the other

side.

3) One arm under the other like in Garudasana.

Gayathri.

.... thanks for your time... shoulder pain and elbow pain seem to be going

away... i did back off for a while and jumped to easy pose... i was doing an

almost full daily practice at home... i have been encouraged to attend daily

early morning mysore practice (my teacher was unaware of my shoulder.. ive

been out of class for a while)... and am now doing full daily practice

again... and although i am working it a little more it seems to be getting

better... perhaps the extra heat... or the practice of asanas that ive been

missing out, strengthening the shoulder... giving it what it needs...

anyways... take care of yourself... mart..
