Yoga Mat Question

Hi,

I recently began practicing Ashtanga yoga and I need a recommendation

for a good mat. I was using one of my wife's mats and because I sweat

so much the mat became very slippery. Does anyone know of a good mat

for people who sweat heavily?

I've gotten a couple of recommendations already:

The Manduka mat (the black mat from Germany. I'm not sure what this

is made out of or whether it remains sticky when you sweat. It is

quite expensive ranging from $68 to $99 depending on the source.)

The Gaiam Quick-Dry high performance mat (this one is advertised with

densely cushioned moisture-wicking microfiber on one side and sticky

mat on reverse so you don't need to use both a mat and a towel. It

sells for $40).

Any comments or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Namaste

I have the manduka mat. I bought it at the reccomendation of

someone and I am not really that impressed with it. You may want to

invest in an ashtanga rug( I think that is what it is called, mind

went blank. Maybe called blanket). They are supposed to absorb the

sweat. Put it on top of your mat. They are about 40 bucks. I just

don't think the manduka mat is worth the money.
