Guest guest
Salutations, I teach and practice Vinyasa and Ashtanga Vinyasa and for the longest time I keep mentioning to my students NOT to drink water during the practice, as has been taught to me over the years. My questions for the yogis in this group are: 1. What texts mention that we should not drink water during the practice? 2. What texts mention only using the right foot in first when doing padmasana? I know about the prana/nadis and solar energy, so that doesn't escape me, BUT... surely there must be cause to switch the cross of the legs, perhaps at different times of the day or even from the start of the practice to the end of the practice. 3. Same on showers after practice. Yes yes, wait before you shower and people keep quoting it... but, is it written somewhere for reference? I have checked Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Shiva Samhita, and Gherand Samhita. I'm opening a new school with showers and I thought it would be nice to have the authoritative source. Thanks, Adrian Cox
Guest guest
Hi there, I believe that the Yoga Mala written by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois talks about when to shower after the practice etc.. As for the other two questions, I believe that is how Guruji teachers it but I don't know if it could be found in any texts. Guest guest
Adrian, I'm just beginning at Ashtanga, thet's why I've been researching a lot, specially at internet. I read something about hot shower after practice and drinking juices before it at the Holistic on line home page (http://www.holistic- online.com/Yoga/hol_yoga_pos_whenandwhere.htm). I hope it helps. _/\_ Anis ashtanga yoga, adriancox <no_reply> wrote: > Salutations, > I teach and practice Vinyasa and Ashtanga Vinyasa and for the longest > time I keep mentioning to my students NOT to drink water during the > practice, as has been taught to me over the years. > > My questions for the yogis in this group are: > > 1. Guest guest
I personally don't drink water or do anything else that would interrupt the flow of the practice. Ashtanga should be a continuious meditation from beginning to end.
