Guest guest
Try a variety of shoulder openers such as gobakasana arms in many poses eg virabadrasana and even prasarita padotanasana. Also try putting arms in triangular position (like headstand position) and put them against a wall so shoulders and back are parallel and on the same plane. Finally try putting eg right arm out to the side and take left arm behind head to grad upper part of right arm. You'll feel the opening and then switch sides. Consciously working with opening your shoulders will absolutely help you in all poses. Finally you can hold each end of a strap overhead with hands and then lower strap behind head and down back and then raise it up over head again (and gradually you shorten distance of the strap) dean fioriti <jonahjameson2003 wrote:Hello all,I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I can open my shoulders? I am relatively new to ashtanga, but I have been practising everyday now for the past two months.I have come to realize as I have progress in my practise, that I am having problems open my shoulds on specific postures. Namely, purvottanasana and in one picticular posture in prasarita padottanasana, the one when you are standing in a wide legged stance and you bind your hands behind your back.I know that upward and downward dog postures will help to release my shoulders but does anyone have any other suggestion i may be able to try!
