Guest guest
hi. i've been practicing ashtanga for about six months now and various yoga styles for close to two years. I think i'm ready to beging practicing full lotus, however i old knee injuries force me to be carefull about the profer technique. where should the emphasis be- i know you're supposed to concentrate on opening in the hips, but it seems as if there are muliple ways that the hips sockets can rotate. specifically should you concentrate on having an outward rotation in the thigh, or does the release come more in the gluteous muscles thanks, ana
Guest guest
this is hard to answer since one can't know what your individual limitations and restrictions are. you are correct, the hip has many ranges of motion, as illustrated here: http://www.exrx.net/Articulations/Hip.html. in general, the hip is, or needs to be, externally rotated as the foot is brought across the midline. lots of people can accomplish that part of it if they hold the lower leg up near their chest but if they then have to lower the knee towards the floor, it won't go down all the way. ashtanga yoga, "acsirianni" <acsirianni> wrote: > hi. i've been practicing ashtanga for about six months now and various yoga styles > for close to two years.
