Guest guest
My wife, who loves Ashtanga yoga, is in desperate need of some pampering (and deserves it). I'd like to find a spa that is a combination of traditional 'mud pack, facials, massage' but also offers Asthanga yoga. Loking for something within say 300 miles of LA with a stay of optimally 4 days 3 nights. She'd be 'attending' on her own. I'd drive her there, drop her off, pitch a tent and meditate in my own way, then pick her up. We're working stiffs so price is a bit of an object but not the primary decision maker. Suggestions and recommendations greately appreciated. Thanks, Doug
Guest guest
This is not exactly what you are looking for but depending on her lifestyle it might be an alternative. I've been to Rancho La Puerta a few times. It is in Tecate, Mexico about a hour's drive from San Diego airport. It is style as more of a "fitness resort" with relaxation and pampering. For people who like a healthy, active vacation with healthy food. (Not a "fat farm", a lot of the guests are athletic, fit, or well on the way there.) It is lacto-ovo vegetarian with seafood twice weekly and, depending on the time of year, a lot of the food may come from the organic garden. Unfortunately, though, the yoga program is not Ashtanga; it is more like a casual Iyengar for the level 1 classes and hatha flow for the level 1 classes. They do have an Ashtanga-theme week from time to time, but not often. They have a good morning hiking program. Normally they required a full week's stay, but since spa occupancy has dropped off during the last couple years they do allow shorter stays provided the guest arrives on Sat, the official "arrival" day. It is not cheap but for a full-service, all-inclusive spa, it is a good value. They might even have gone back to offering to match up single guests so they can stay in a less expensive double. The website will give you most of the info you need but feel free to email or post if you have specific questions I could answer. www.rancholapuerta.com. If there are Asthanga-based spas I would love to hear about them. I've found that most typical spas offer a less vigorous/rigorous version of yoga so that guests are not intimidated to "try" it. ashtanga yoga, "Doug Snyder" <doug@d...> wrote: > My wife, who loves Ashtanga yoga, is in desperate need of some pampering (and > deserves it).
