Guest guest
Hi!! I live in NYC...so I can't help you with the LA thing. However ...I just wanted to mention that when I started Ashtanga 3 years ago...I just jumped right in. If you attend a regular class...just ask to me sure it isn't a Mysore class. The studio I practice at does offer beginner workshops...but this is a new thing at our studio. Try attending a regular class. Sit toward that back and watch the first class and join in when you feel comfortable. Good luck! Hello all: I have been practicing Yoga for almost a year and am very interested in Ashtanga. I have read a number of books and have been recently begun trying to find beginner/intro or instructor lead classes in Los Angeles but am having no luck. I've called a number of studios in the Los Angeles area and I've been told that I can come to a self-lead class and "follow" but I have to admit I'm a little intimidated. I'm very interested to hear how others have gotten started with their practice and if anyone knows of any intros or workshops or good classes for beginners in Los Angeles. Thank you in advance. I really appreciate any help or advice anyone has to offer. R
Guest guest
Hey, I live in LA and I'm also very interested in Ashtanga, though I haven't found any classes that I can attend due to my busy schedule. However, check out http://www.yogaworks.com. Go to "Custom Schedule" on the left-hand side of the page. Then select from the Styles drop-down "Ashtanga" Tereza Scharf teaches an open to all levels Mo, Tue, Wed, Thurs, Fri 4PM - 5:55PM class in BH. She gives personal attention and will help with any of your concerns or modifications. Namasate Joseph --- Giddy <giddy wrote: > Hi!! > > I live in NYC...so I can't help you with the LA > thing. Guest guest
Sometimes, watching others practice for a while helps. So you could probably go back in the room, watch others practice and join in when you are ready. Gayathri. --- Giddy <giddy wrote: > Hi!! > > I live in NYC...so I can't help you with the LA > thing. Guest guest
I think led classes are the best way to jump into Ashtanga, although Mysore is the best way to refine your practice. If you try a led class, don't be discouraged if you feel a little overwhelmed, it's a lot of information to absorb at one time -- 42 postures, not to mention the transitions between. But if you like it, I strongly encourage you to stick with it, it's incredibly rewarding. --Josh -- "roseannferraro" <roseannferraro wrote: Hello all: I have been practicing Yoga for almost a year and am very interested in Ashtanga.
