Guest guest
Going to class helps, and is actually recommended. However, if you either cannot afford classes or you don't have a good ashtanga teacher even remotely near you then I would suggest getting David Swensons Ashtanga Practice book. It's about $25, but well worth the money. He includes both of the Primary and Intermediate Series of ashtanga yoga. The book offers at least three modifications for every pose. This is good if you can't get into a full pose and you're not sure where to go from there. Swenson also has 15, 30, and 45 minute short forms, where if you either don't have time to do the full primary series (roughly 75-90 minutes) or haven't quite worked your way up to doing the whole series yet. You can use this book in conjunction with a VHS tape/DVD. David also has a Primary Series DVD which is excellent. The pace is a little fast in the beginning, so be careful. >"flower_mommy2003" <flower_mommy2003 >ashtanga yoga >ashtanga yoga >ashtanga yoga Do you need to take classes for Ashtanga or can >you go straight to DVD? >Thu, 19 Aug 2004 12:57:15 -0000 > >Hello, > >I have an ashtanga yoga video and started doing a few of the poses >but then stopped because I was sort of scared I might do some harm >to my body since I have not taken classes. > >Is it ok to continue with the video?
