Guest guest
Namaskar, I have a few questions that I cant remember. My instructor does things a little different sometimes because we are still learning and sometimes due to time constraints. I have a picture series of the Primary series as well and have a few questions. here are two Baddha Konasanas A and B right? is one just sitting up straight then forward bending or is one forward bending with a flat back and one forard bending with a rounded back....my instructor always tells us to put our head into our feet and that would make me round my back...i think I am interpreting things incorrectly? Is there a vinyasa after Upavishta Konasana A and B? Do we go straight back from B into Supta Konasana? Is Halasana performed with feet dorsi flexed with toes curled under or planter flexted (pointed) with toes flat on the ground. The picture I have has them tucked under, my instructor says pointed? And what is up with Tolasana and 100 breaths? just joking... Peace, Vishva Devi

They are different, not just your back but your arms are positioned differently in each, but a lot of instructors just do one or the other in a led primary. Look at a book with very clear diagrams and descriptions, like Richard Freeman's or David Swenson's, to clear up the confusion. Check this out on Freeman's site for a long-winded description: http://www.yogaworkshop.com/postures_baddha_konasana_p1.html >Is there a vinyasa after Upavishta Konasana A and B? Do we go straight back from B into Supta Konasana? Interesting question. My instructor doesn't usually do one but then led classes often leave our vinyasas that are supposed to be there. Perhaps someone who has studied with Guruji directly can answer this. Also, the practice has evolved. Guruji, his son, Manju, and his grandson have all been known to give different answers to the same quetion. It can be very frustrating to those of us who are really anal and want to do things exactly 'right'. >Is Halasana performed with feet dorsi flexed with toes curled under or planter flexted (pointed) with toes flat on the ground. The picture I have has them tucked under, my instructor says pointed? Feet are pointed, with tops of toes resting on ground (which can be a little painful, if like me, you have very bony toes!) >And what is up with Tolasana and 100 breaths? just joking... Only 100? My instructor always does 500. I'm going to complain now...... Rowena
