Guest guest
I think the best way to do it would be to follow what your teacher recommends. If you're on your own and feel like you want to start doing second series, that's a little different. There you would do your normal practice until you finish the first series poses, the last one being Setu Bandhasana (BTW, the first series is not "forward bends" and the second sereis is not "backbends"), then you would start doing your second series poses. You would normally add one pose at a time, staying with that pose until you developed some reasonable degree of proficiency. Then you would add in the next pose in the second series. Then you would do the finishing sequence. Once you had developed a proficiency with enough second series poses, usually somewhere around Eka Pada Sirsasana, you could then stop doing both the first series poses and the second series poses each day and just do the standing poses, then what ever series you were working on that day, then the finishing poses. There is not really one way that this splitting is done. When someone is only part way through the second series and is still doing their first series poses each day too, some studios will have the student do the standing poses, then only half of the first series then do the second series poses they have received up to that point, then the finishing poses. In Mysore, I don't think that's how it's done though. There, you do all of first and all of your allcated second series poses, then you finish. Until they " split" you. Then you just do standing then the second series poses, then the finishing poses. o make it a little more confusing, when doing the second series, some places have you do the standing poses up thru Parsvottansana, then Pashasana, etc. Again, the best way is the way your teacher recommends it. ashtanga yoga, yogione <yogi0101010> wrote: > so you do sun salutes a+b, then standing poses, then > forward bends or backbends, then finish ?? > can you do an edited series of forward bends + then > backbends ?should you do forward before or after 2 > series [ backbends }? > yogione
