question on handstands

I suggest you have it checked out. I know someone who kicked the back

of a car after it almost ran the person over. The toe hurt for a

while and kept hurting. By the time the person went to see the dr

weeks later, the dr said it had been broken but had already begun to

heal and the only things to do were to either re-break and set the

toe or to just let it continue healing in its own imperfect way. The

person went with the latter and now years later it still hurts from

time to time. The foot is the foundation and foot pain even outside

of yoga is no fun so I suggest not taking any chances and have it

looked at just in case.

take care!

usually my biggest challenge. After about 4 years of practice I'm

doing handstands for the first time pretty regularly. However, as is

usually my problem with this asana, I fell last Friday and landed

hard on my right toes. My big toe on the right foot has been hurting

when I walk. I don't think anything broke, but when I bend the toes

in walking, I feel pain on the right foot. How long do you all think

it will take for the pain to subside in a toe injury? What advice do

you have for making the handstand better? I do it against a wall,

since I'm not brave enough yet to do it in the middle of the floor. I

press the hands firmly once I'm up, making the hands strong while I

push. I probably was distracted and not present in the moment when I

fell. I have no problem with other inversions such as pincha

mayurasanas, the headstands, and the like, other than I usually

practice near a wall on some of them, because of a fear of falling. I

suppose I need to develop more control and balance.
