Guest guest
I'm brand new to the group so forgive me for jumping right in unintroduced, but I love this thread and have been talking a lot about it lately locally. I can only answer the question regarding yoga vs. weight training by referring to my own personal experience. I've trained with weights and weight machines off an on for 15 years, including a stretch where I was a spokesperson for a gym. I started my yoga practice about four months ago. I pretty much haven't touched a weight since then. Just not worth it. I'm tighter, my muscles are more cut and of course I'm more flexible than ever before. And THIS is only addressing the physical benefits which for my money is a very small part of the benefit I get from my practice. Of course I practice every day so that may make a difference, but I still say bang for the buck, there's no comparison. My gym time averaged two-hours per workout. A strong Ashtanga class is still only about 1:30 and I've never left the gym feeling like I do after yoga. ashtanga yoga, Derek Evans <drkevans> wrote: > > Thanks Jana > > --- jana <jana@s...> wrote: > > > > > > > > 1. Guest guest
Tony, Thanks for your input. I, too felt like I was getting in a better strength workout, but everyone kept telling me for three years yoga isn't enough, you need to lift weights. They put doubt in my head and made me think I wasn't getting a good workout, but now I'm sure yoga will beat weights anytime. --- tbittick35 <tbittick wrote: > > > I'm brand new to the group so forgive me for jumping > right in > unintroduced, but I love this thread and have been > talking a lot > about it lately locally. > > I can only answer the question regarding yoga vs. > weight training by > referring to my own personal experience. > > I've trained with weights and weight machines off an > on for 15 years, > including a stretch where I was a spokesperson for a > gym. > > I started my yoga practice about four months ago.
