Hi Rafail

You ask a very deep question which cannot be answered in a few words

of response. As a response, I would just share my personal experience

with the path of yoga. Before I started doing yoga, when very young,

I had a religious experience and planned to join a monastery of hermit

monks. Later I drifted from that idea and developed a career. When I

started yoga, I learned that the whole purpose of it is calm the fluctuations

of the mind and prepare the body for meditation during long periods. This

led to rediscovering meditation, which is part of my weekly practice

now. I suggest you read books by inspired yogis and yoginis who share

their enlightment, and do that on a regular basis. Maybe there you

might find some answers. The more you learn about yoga, you realize

that the asanas are only one small part to becoming enlightment, since

there are other "limbs" - moral codes, practices, etc, to be followed as

well.

Namaste

A spiritual question.

hi everybody,

i have met so many people practicing yoga ,

and read so many others through this beutifull site,

and i see that the most of them see yoga as another way of body

fitness.

and is logical in this consuming and materialistic society we live.

and i ask. where is the Higher Self, the absolut, that we have

to realise, the supreme goal of yoga.

That which is beyond the thouhgts and the mind, beyond the ego.

is it posible for us the westerners that we are traped in this

marerialism ,to realise that self with the big S?

is it posible to keep the balance between the spirituality

and the crazyness, the speed of the today world?

we are not living in the caves and in the forests ,

like the rishis, the saints who lived in India handreds years ago.

we have to put our energys to the every day life and to our familys.

We have to face the violence all around us, and to keep the love

inside. is it possible.?

Yoga is a way of self ralitation,

but is it posible to achive this higher reality?

to over pass the gross reality? to experience the thiner layers of

our selfs and universe?

its a question to thing about for all of us.

because the world is going very fast today .

peace and love.
