Guest guest
Try Priya Yoga www.priyayoga.com. The Director (Jodi Blumstein) is really good, but will be out of town for a couple weeks. She has some very really good teachers in Teri, Lisa, and Bill. Almost all (except Bill) of them have spent a least a few months in Mysore. They do Mysore style classes as well as led classes. They also have some interesting Vinyasa classes which are pretty much led Primary Series classes, but they focus on either the begining or end of the Primary Series. Check the website for exact times. There are a few others in the Chicago area, but Priya near State and Oak Street (1 East Oak Street) is the closest downtown. Hope that helps. --JW >"mortega1" <mortega1 >ashtanga yoga >ashtanga yoga >ashtanga yoga Ashtanga in Downtown Chicago >Thu, 04 Nov 2004 03:22:25 -0000 > > > >Does anybody know of a good ashtanga studio in downtown Chicago? >I'll be travelling there every week for the next few months and would >like to find a good place to practice. >Thanks > > > > > > >

Guest guest
I've heard do thinks about Amy's classes too. If you have the option of not having to be anywhere until after 10 am (if you are considering Mysore) and have a car or you are very familiar with the Chicago bus system and train lines, then Yoga Now is suppose to be great. I've never gone there myself, but the shala is ran by the only certified ashtanga teacher in state Amy Beth Treciokas. The disadvantage however, is that her shala is about 20-30 minutes north of downtown. If you are in a position to try one of her classes after work by all means do it. There are a couple of other good spots on the north side of Chicago: 1. The Chicago Yoga Center - http://www.yogamind.com/ 2. Yoga Now (previously mentioned) - http://www.yoganowchicago.com/ 3. Global Yoga - http://www.globalyogacenter.com/ --JW >Chris Bussiere <yogageek108 >ashtanga yoga >ashtanga yoga >Re: ashtanga yoga Ashtanga in Downtown Chicago >Thu, 4 Nov 2004 21:18:13 -0800 (PST) > > >yoganowchicago!!!! i hear amy rocks > >mortega1 <mortega1 wrote: > >Does anybody know of a good ashtanga studio in downtown Chicago? >I'll be travelling there every week for the next few months and would >like to find a good place to practice. >Thanks > > Sponsor >Get unlimited calls to > >U.S./Canada > > > > Links > > > > > >ashtangayoga > > Check out the new Front Page. www./a > > > > > >

Guest guest
Bob, That's great. This studio is only a few blocks from where I usually stay. It is perfect. Who's class do you take there? Guest guest
I've taken classes with four of the teachers there, here's my report on them: 1. Jodi - The absolute best (director). 2. Lisa - Didn't give me a lot of adjustments but the ones she did were meaningful. 3. Terri - Really good teacher, I took a vinyasa class with her talks you through adjustments. 4. Bill - I took a vinyasa class with him too. He's a good teacher, but I think he's in Mysore now. If you can take Jodi and/or Lisa's Mysore class at 7 am (6 am on Fridays, 9 am on Sundays) do it, it;s great way to start your day. There usually 10-12 people in there around that time, so you won't be alone. Very easy to get good heat going fairly quickly. The Vinyasa and led Primary classes are good too, but I do prefer the Mysore classes the best. If you see Jodi, tell her James says hi. Guest guest
Thanks again for the info James. I'm looking forward to it. And I agree, it really makes a differnce in you day when you do the early morning practice.
