I think this is a wonderful attitude and one all yogis can benefit. And

yes, the practice is, or at least should be about much more than the asana.

Asana is, afterall, only one if the eight limbs, right?

I think that's a great story... and one worth pondering. Some times I think

we have to be able to get into a pose mentally before we can ever hope to

get their physically. I also do believe, very much so, that our dreams

notify us of things. I think you may have gotten the best of both worlds

with this particular dream.

I, too, agree that mentally picturing a posture prior to attempting it is very

helpful, and it

sounds like your dreams are offering a beautiful guidance toward your deeper

practice.

Also, interesting to read this evening, for during practice earlier today, when

I was not as

totally focused on sequence positions but rather my breath flow, I had what I

would term

two interesting recollections (waking dreams) of images that I had not thought

of for many

years. Very comforting and unexpected, but as you say, with no expectations,

anything is

possible.

That's very cool. This week, I also dreamt that I could do a certain pose

with ease and satisfaction in my dream. I've been trying for it this week and

did

it in my dream.

Also, while I do my poses I sometimes imagine in my mind that I am nothing

more or less than just a piece of blue metal that is bending any which way I

desire it too. That helps a lot.

:)
