Guest guest
There are a few yoga centers in Thailand - if you are in Chang Rai the closest I know of is in Chang Mai: http://yogacenter.infothai.com/ I don't know if they offer ashtanga. If you get a change to take a trip south to the east coast islands than www.ashtangayogathailand.com is solely ashtanga on Ko Samui. There is also a teacher on KPG, but not for beginers. There is also one in Bangkok: www.ashtangabangkok.com. As far as hamstrings, just bend your kness when you are doing opening A and B series so you don't overstrech them. It's common for people to overstrech their hamstrings doing only the first series of ashtanga, especially beginers who don't yet have the flexibility. Have fun! I live in Thailand so am looking for recommendations for beginners classes. I am near Chiang Mai. I have heard of classes in Ashtanga yoga in Pai, near Mae Hong Son but don't know if they are for beginners. All the recent mails about hamstring injuries are a little frightening to read about. Any advice on how to avoid injury in the first place?
