Guest guest
It is interesting how various asanas become "favored" or "disfavored" as one continue to practice. I've been thru "loving" and, shall we say, "loving less" most every one of the first series postures in the last few years, but somehow shavasana has escaped this pattern, until now that is. I always kind of enjoyed the restfulness of the asana, the feeling of having completed a nice practice, though I kind of struggled a bit to keep my mind clear quiet and present rather than planning my next meal or just ruminating with the busy monkey-brain. But recently, guided by the fact that it is "corpse" pose, I take a mindframe that soon this body will not be animated any longer, and I find I can become more "corpselike", not as creepy as it sounds, I become truly still and let my breath become tiny and shallow, I let my body experience as best as possible its future pose when I am done with it, somehow this perspective allows my mind to quiet and still, I now find shavasana to be the most illuminating of asanas.
