Guest guest
Why would you think it would hurt? Drink the shake and don't worry about all the details and strict rules that people tend to put with yoga. Enjoy your yoga, be free.
Guest guest
Protein intake is good - preferrably from natural protein sources. What's a fractionater? Gayathri. Guest guest
Thanks for replies on this all. I’ll try it out and see what happens. – my main concern was that I’d start ‘bulking up’ (which I tended to do very easily during my Gym/Wrestling days!). I was considering taking Whey/Creatine based shakes (like I used to) predominantly for the recovery effects….I’ll give the ‘au natural’ sources a miss (only joking!) Thomas – agreed, I’m in soooo much better shape than my gym days, with less effort too – why do people kill themselves in the Gym! Gayathri – a ‘Fractionater’ is some one who Fractionates! Guest guest
Greetings, and one more on this, I also used to be a regular weightlifter and find that I feel far better now and am in better condition from my regular practice. Interesting to hear your viewpoint, which reflects what I have found as well. I still, btw, use whey isolate protein (in soy milk with a tablespoon of flax oil) after practice. Quit the creatine a few years ago after the kidney stone connection research (and after a friend who used it had one!). Take care, Gordon ashtanga yoga, "The Fractionater" <the.fractionater@n...> wrote: > > Thanks for replies on this all. > > I'll try it out and see what happens. – my main concern was that I'd > start `bulking up' (which I tended to do very easily during my > Gym/Wrestling days!). > > I was considering taking Whey/Creatine based shakes (like I used to) > predominantly for the recovery effects….I'll give the `au natural' > sources a miss (only joking!) > > Thomas – agreed, I'm in soooo much better shape than my gym days, with > less effort too – why do people kill themselves in the Gym! > > Gayathri – a `Fractionater' is some one who Fractionates! > > Peace & piece > > The Fraction8r
Guest guest
Why anyone would take creatine while practicing yoga is beyond me. If you want to be a bodybuilder, by all means follow your dream. If you want to practice ashtanga, likewise. Practicing yoga and following it up with creatine, which inflates muscle with fluid, causes tightness and also cramping, is like buying a poodle as a guard dog. Nothing wrong with poodles, nothing wrong with guard dogs, something a bit wrong with with imagining one becomes the other. I'm not saying this to put down creatine, I'm familiar with the stuff, and it has it's uses for "natural" bodybuilders and weightlifters, but it is not the sort of item a yogi would consume. Ashtanga is challenging enough without puffing up your muscle tissue with fluid. Ashtanga asanas are just a preparation for the goals of yoga, not a formula for bodybuilding. Practice a while and the need/desire to inflate your physique will disappear as the practice begins to have its intended effect on the real you.
