>Ashtanga is not invented by Mr Jois of mysore.

Yes, it was, if you are referring to the particular sequence of asanas that are

called Ashtanga yoga. He did not invent the individual asanas, most of which

are shared by hatha & other types of yoga, nor did he invent the eight limbs of

yoga, but he put together what he learned from his teacher into a specific new

system that he named "Ashtanga".

>Though he is a world famous teacher (little known in India) in ashtanga, I was

told that he teaches only asanas.

He teaches only asanas because the westerners who are the paying customers for

ashtanga aren't interested in the other 7 limbs -- myself included. If people

would pay for it, he'd teach the other 7 limbs, too.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,

My working week and my Sunday rest,

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;

I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;

Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;

Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.

For nothing now can ever come to any good. -W.H. Auden
