Guest guest
Thank you for the thoughtful response. After thinking about it, I think you are probably right... I for the most part I know the practice by memory now. I'll give it a try at my next yoga workout, probably this Sunday. Thanks again. charlierom2003 <no_reply> wrote:If the video is becoming repetitive, and you are practicing daily, time to turn the video OFF, and just do your practice! Weening off the video prepares you for Mysore-style practice, and allows you to set pace to your breath. To help you remember series sequence at first, get one of the posters available online that displays asanas in order. You'll be surprised how soon you will not even need the poster, you will know the postures, it is a whole new experience. Go back then and practice with the DVD sometimes, now it is for variety and proper example, not boredom, and you will discover new values in Swenson's words and examples! (Swenson is good). Of course knowing the sequence of asanas and achieving them, especially correctly, are two different things, but steps on the right road. And of course, proper teacher is best. Regarding music, I think it is most benficial to practice in silence. Hear your breath. Bask in the quiet, in the purity, in the practice. To me, silence during practice is the truest music. All day there is noise, the practice is the quiet time.

Guest guest
yes but trina od you work out on your own? i actually find my yoga workouts on my own at home art better. the instructions is as good - david swensen on video - and it is easier to concentrate. at the classes i get distracted by all the yoga women. i would like to go to a one week intensive but i just dont see the advantage of classes on a regular basis unless you have access to a truly great teacher which is rare. just my opinion, curt Trina Edwards <jasminerose wrote: Hi i use a varioty of videos and books to enlarge my practice. but there is nothing as good as the teacher.
