Guest guest
hi gatathri, I had too diffrent teachers at once when I used to go to the gym, I never told them I was seeing a difrent teacher , for one thing its none of there bissiness. but also its good for your improvement to have more than one teacher. what one can offer the other cant and you can get a lot from both types. my teachers both had been to india and were eaquily good. and they both pushed me on to my maximum. I got some yoga asanas from each that the other did not do. so you keep it up girl it will stop you from getting bored after all its your practice, and the essence of yoga is not to be competitive, so if they are being competivive and jesous you could just quietly remind them of what the guru tells us . namestate jasmine. - ashtangayoga Saturday, April 30, 2005 9:14 AM ashtanga yoga Jealous teachers? Hello All, Has anyone with multiple teachers had to deal with such situations? One teacher feeling inferior/jealous over another teacher if you attend more classes of one versus another. How did you handle such a delicate situation? Any help would be much appreciated. If your response is "don't care about it" or "ignore it", please do not respond to my question. Gracias. Gayathri. Guest guest
Gayathri, I hear you. And I care very deeply about this subject. It is ridiculous to me, yet it exists. Yoga is not just about the asana practice. When you are into this aspect, the first level or limb, your ego is still very much intact which leads to the situations you are describing. My advice....find a teacher that has moved beyond their ego to the point where teaching is about the students. We all have choices. About the products we buy. The companies we support. The yoga classes we take. You never give up your power no matter what situation you are in. So you need to decide if this is acceptable to you. If not, find a teacher that is not concerned with their agenda. Their ego. But how what they do benefits the student. This should be something you should have to even have to think twice about. Follow your path. YogaBoundDeb info
Guest guest
Doesn't that seem a little immature on the teacher's part if they get jealous that someone would not favor their classes? I mean, it is your practice, so it seems to me that they should not be making judgements on your decisions. The few times that I've thought that this might be happening to me, I eventually realized that it was all in my head and that my teachers were happy to see me when they saw me. Guest guest
I resorted to silence and ignorance for an year until I was cornered with the question/statement "So you think we other teachers are not good enough compared to your teacher?!". I was frustrated with this disrespectful attitude among the so called "yoga teachers" and decided not to attend those classes anymore. Which implies that its not in my head!!! Gayathri.
