Guest guest
Hello All, I went this morning to practice with Guruji in NYC and it was AWESOME! I went to the second class which is half of the primary series. It wasnt as crowded as the morning session (the morning session was PACKED)so there was room to really feel comfortable. I am still relatively new to Ashtanga so I was a little nervous walking in but Im soo glad I did. If anybody in NYC is thinking of going you really should. The room that the sessions are held in has windows on all sides and the sunlight was streaming in, you couldnt ask for better. Guruji is very no nonsense in his approach to teaching he is very direct in his instuction. He is also funny he extended Chaturanga and Uth Pluthi for extra counts. It seemed like forever he would count to nine and repeat nine a few times(Uth Pluthi). It was a challenge. There were all different levels in both classes so there is no need to be at all intimidated even if you are brand new. Not to mention that the more experienced practioners serve as inspiration of where your practice will go with dedication. So if you can you should try and make a class, you'll be glad you did. Guest guest
And just to remind all you who are so enjoying Sharath and Guruji on their tour, attending their classes qualifies you to attend the two week intensive that Sharath is holding at Purple Valley in December. Purple Valley is in Goa, on the Western coast of the Indian sub- continent, and is the most cosmopolitan and Westernised part of India. It is a very good jumping off point for trips to the rest of India. This workshop is a rare chance to develop your practice in a relatively small group (max mumber of students 50, and he will be running 'rolling' classes with staggered start times, so he can really get to know you and your practice). There will be a couple of led classes, but it will be mainly Mysore style. The workshop is already half full, so please book soon to avoid disappointment. Travel to Goa? Check with your local travel agent but if you live on the East Coast of US, then skip over to Europe and catch a charter which goes direct in to Goa. If you live on the West Coast it is easiest to catch a scheduled flight to Mumbai or Dehli and then an internal flight down to Goa. The airport in Goa is called Dabolim. If anyone needs any other advice, please check the web site at www.yogagoa.com or email me annie If Sharath's workshop is full by the time you come to book, we also have Michael Gannon doing a two week intensive for would-be teachers, Mark Darby over Christmas, Louisa Sear from Australia, and a special Self-Transformation / Self-development workshop for two weeks with Emil Wendel & Sue Pendlebury which includes much meditation and pranayama and well as asana work, and also Nancy Gilgoff, Gingi Lee (ashtanga with Tai Chi) and Ron Reid. The program goes from November to April. Look forward to seeing you all in Goa ! Om Shanti and love, Annie
