Guest guest
When are you planning to go? pia PD Sorry, no advice because I have never been yet! jewelboy212003 <mazzyboy21 escribió: Hi everyone, Being a travel virgin to Mysore, I was wondering someone could help shed some light on rough estimates for saving for mysore. How much would you "recommend" to budget for monthly including accomodation, food, spending money etc. Is budgeting US$750 a month too much? i know it's better to have too much than too little, but I have no idea how much things are over there. Guest guest
It depends on what you want to do, what kind of housing you want to stay in, food, extra travel, if you are going to buy things, etc. Also, how long you will be staying. In a way, the longer you stay the less you need to budget for each month since you are more apt to spread out the weekend excursions plus you can rent an place on a longer basis instead of staying in a hotel. I would say that 750 should be enough (except for the first month when the yoga will be 600$). I've usually taken 1000$ per month and that gives me free liberty to take taxi transportation when I feel necessary, eat at the "fancy" places once in awhile, stay in a pretty nice place, buy a couple of nice statues or wall hangings, gifts for my family, take weekend trips....basically not holding back in the things I feel I want to do. And then I come back home with left over cash as well. But for me I just feel safer knowing that I have a bit more than I actually need....just in case. Although, I must say that when I traveled in my early 20's I would have went with a lot less security financially and still had a wonderful time. With age, I guess I prefer to have it a bit easier :-) . Hope that is helpful. Guest guest
Hello.. The current currency exchange rate for US Dollar is 43.6 Rupees..If u save around $750 per month that would amount to around (750*43.6 = 32700 Rupees)..I haven't personally been to Mysore but from my general knowledge of having lived in India, I am giving ur some tips....Your accomodation per month shouldn't cost more than 3000-6000 rupees..Your food (assuming you only drink bottled water) should cost you around 4000 rupees..whereas your sight-seeing, spending money should come somewhere around 10000 rupees..if you live there for a month you'll learn a thing or two about bargaining and the way of lifestyle..so i think by saving $750 per month you are in a pretty good shape..How long are you planning to stay there etc,.,make a precise itenary and checkout the near by sight-seeing places using the internet or seek guidance from Karnataka Tourism..Mysore is the city in the State of Karnataka.... I hope this helps... Guest guest
1$ = ~45 Rupees now. ~ means approximate. Rent - If you rent an apartment by yourself, rent ~$150/month. I heard students share accomodation there. So it might be cheaper. Food - If you cook at home, ~$50-75/month. If you eat out every meal, ~$150-200/month. Spending money - Depends on what you buy. Maybe ~$100/month. So you should make do with ~$400/month. Mine will be much lesser because I am planning on making my mother travel all the way from my hometown to Mysore and cook for me for 3 months;))))) Oh! Did I forget to say 3 months?! Gayathri.
