Fpyk news letter August 2005

A grand 90th year Birthday Celebration of Guruji:-

The 90th year birthday of Guruji, Yogasana Visharada Vidwan K.

Pattabhi Jois was celebrated on 20th and 21st July 2005 in Mysore.

During the day on20th July, there was a special homa, the fire

sacrifice and other ritual. And in the evening there was a

Hindusthani classical vocal music by Sri. Dhananjaya Kaul assisted

by Sri. Moinuddin Khan who played Sarangi and Sri. Kader Khan on

tabla.

On 21st July, the birthday was celebrated in a modern style. People

came to wish Guruji seeking his blessings. Garlands of flowers in

different sizes were offered to Guruji. During the celebration,

there was a Violin concert by Sri. Manjunath and his party in

Carnatic style.

Completely managed and controlled Sharath Rangaswamy, ONLY the

students of Guruji and Sharath Rangaswamy were allowed to

participate in the birthday celebration. The students of other

teachers, who were in several hundreds at that time in Mysore, were

denied the opportunity to seek the blessings of Guruji, since they

were not allowed to enter the premises where the birthday

celebration was organized. The celebration appeared as a Private

Party.

The most impressing hour and moment was the expression of the filial

feeling of the Guruji when his army of relatives went in a group to

seek his blessings. Guruji's eyes were filled with the water of

love, affection and blessings.

After attending the birthday celebration, Master ji went to Chikka -

magalur, a city which is about 275 kms from Bangalore to conduct the

annual Yogasana competition on 23rd and 24th July 2005. Master ji

was accompanied by his students. The Yogasana competition was a big

success which was attended by more than 250 competitors.

>From Chikkamagalur, Master ji went to Kukke Subramanya with his

students to perform the rituals.

Generally, the festivals related to the students of yoga will be

highlighted though there will be a mention of others festivals of

the month. Festivals are celebrated and rituals are performed to

enhance the good life and to ward off the evil effect.

If you enjoy everything without any problems, it means, you are

being blessed. If you suffer continuously and face too many

obstacles, it means, you are suffering from a curse.

Festivals in August:-

10 August 2005 ---Naga panchami

26 August 2005 --- Gokulashtami or Janmashtami, the birth day of

Lord Krishna.

A new DVD on yogasana practice produced by the students of Master

ji, Margaret Simon and Andi Wise will be available from the month of

September 2005. Visit www.perfectingthepractice.com to get your copy

of the DVD.

Shashti days:- 11th and 25th August 2005.

Full Moon day:- 19 August 2005 --- Guru Dakshina day.

(Did you offer your Guru Dakshina in the last month?)

Do the good deeds immediately. Do not postpone them.
