Guest guest
Hi everyone, Has anyone used Nicky Doane's DVDs, by any chance? I've used 2 so far and I'm not exactly pleased with them. She talks a bit too much and I find it distracting. She even talks almost all the way through Shavasana. While it might be helpful to someone who hasn't practiced before it isn't great for those of us that have. I've heard David Swenson's DVDs are quite good. Would anyone reccomend them? Or perhaps another Ashtanga DVD for home practice? All the best to you all. Namaste. _______________ Don't just Search. Find! http://search.sympatico.msn.ca/default.aspx The new MSN Search! Guest guest
I personally REALLY enjoy David Swenson! He is polished, professional...encouraging....accepting...In other words, he really encourages you to just work from where you are...and that that is perfect! He explains some modifications making the practice accessable to all. Granted, he can move quickly, yet I have found that with his tone of voice, I still feel quite calm and relaxed inside throughout the practice...not rushed or uptight. That's makes a huge difference for this yogi. I also hear in his voice, and see in his approach, a genuine love for the practice; and a sincere desire to share the practice with others. In addition to the DVD, I would really recommend getting his book if you do not already have it. They are fantastic as a team! You get information from many perspectives. Oh, and he has a savasana/medition at the end of his program...wonderful!! Enjoy! Namaste, Amy
