my name is tania torres i am from mexico city and i

live practice and teach ashtanga yoga in this city.

 

i feel that both of your ideas about practicing are

right and that you could use both, some days you can

choose to practice more standing poses , another more

sitting poses depending in what your body feels like

doing.

other times you could choose a specific routine and

stick to it.

i do consider important to begin always with the sun

salutations and end with some back bending and

inversions.

there is this beautiful book about ashtanga written by

Lino Miele wich is called Astahga Yoga under the

guidanceof Sri K Pattabhi Jois. you can check it out

..it gives some explanation about why we should

perform the sun salutations and the finishing secuence

always. pages 130 and 131.
