I practice Ashtanga here in San Diego, and here are some places you can

check out.

 

Dana Rae Pare teaches an excellent 1st Series class Sundays, at the Mind,

Body and Light Dance Studio.

Sean O'Shea has a studio that offers Ashtanga Prep and 1st Series classes in

the UCSD area, near La Jolla, which isn't really downtown San Diego, but

he's an excellent teacher. His main 1st Series class is Wednesday eve:

He also teaches a half-vinyasa First Series at Frog's Mission Valley, a gym,

just to the north of Downtown, in Mission Valley.

 

Both are students of Tim Miller; Dana in particular is a senior teacher and

travels to Gurujii each year. Sean, also a student of Matias Flury, has a

very special, sensitive way of teaching, however. Both are great people,

great teachers.

 

Ann Knowles has an Ashtanga Studio in Hillcrest, just north of Downtown: I

have no experience with her, however, but here's a link:

Of course you know that Tim Miller has a wonderful community up in

Encinitas, about 25 miles north of San Diego (and not really such a horrible

drive, if you take the coast route); Tim's website has a great discussion on
