Guest guest
hy everyone, am currently working as a visiting teacher in China, the city is called Dalian. I am just curious if there is anyone on this list, that is even remotely close to me? Yoga in general is very, very, very different here than in Europe or America, where i was trained and received most of my education. At least in this city, a notion of existence of god is still something for which you can be expelled from the country. i have an official translator, that cleverly navigates through my talking and tries to leave out all that is 'politically incorrect' but of course now i face a dilemma, am i teaching yoga or just some kind of exercise. to see how bad the things are, let me tell you that i wanted to have a painting or ganesha on one of the wall of the studio, but the owner of the studio said that the image is too religious. they could maybe do the clouds and an image of taj mahal as a kingdom in heaven... oh, please, i can't imagine more tacky thing to have in the studio, so we settled for a mandala, it looked to them as a geometrical painting of some sort, so it was ok. just curious if there are any of you out there who do yoga in china and what is your experience. what can i do about the whole ashtanga philosophy that can't be explained, anyone has a suggestion? for now i teach only eka-anga in ne ashta-anga. thank you for reading my letter and please send some light this way, namaste diana colonna suryasakti
