The 75 min classes are taught in six week blocks, in two sessions. See below for details of next course. Fundamentals I - Standing Postures - $85 ($50 with Mysore membership) The Fundamental Asanas Series explores proper breathing and the alignment of the standing poses in depth. Each week will highlight a specific type of pose, such as forward bends, then place it in the context of the Ashtanga sequence. Challenging in its simplicity, this series is appropriate for both new and continuing students. These poses help with hip opening and can be good for all students with tight hips or hamstrings. Some familiarity with vinyasa style Sun Salutations is recommended, either by attendance at a beginners class, or through other yoga practice. Next series starts: Jan 8: Sundays, 6:15-7:30 pm Feb 12: Sundays 12:45-2 pm Fundamentals II - Seated Postures - $85 ($50 with Mysore membership) This series will continue in the format of the Fundamentals I class, highlighting a pose and its counterpose each week, building them into the sequence. The class will start with the prayer and independent, mysore style practice of the standing poses, then the featured poses will be explored in depth and added to the sequence. Students will be required to know the sequence of the standing poses well enough to practice this portion on their own, either by completing the fundamentals class, or through self-practice. Next series: Feb 18: Sat 10-11:15 am Fundamentals III - Backbending & Inversions of the Finishing Sequence (5 weeks, 90 min) - $85 ($50 with Mysore membership) Students will begin with an assisted Mysore style practice for 45 minutes (you may begin earlier if you have a longer practice), after which several poses from the closing sequence will be introduced, highlighting their benefits and breaking them down for alignment and breathing clarity. These poses will be added into the practice each week by the students until the sequence is complete. Students should be able to self practice through marichyasana C.
