Guest guest
When we formulated the list policies Prof. Murthy suggested that we should get people who can discuss upAsana kramam in addition to devotional works. That is a very valuable point. At present we have svAmi vishvarUpanandaji who is initiated to shrIvidya and well versed with the upAsana. svAmiji is quite helpful in clarifying doubts but keeping in mind not to reveal mantras which require formal initiation. I was benefited in the past by svAmiji's benevolence. Tip 1: ====== Besides this, in relation to upAsana, I was given a very valuable advice by my chittappa who is initiated into many higher order shrIvidya (like parA parA shodashi). He told me that whenever he goes to shrines like thiruppatI, he does not see shrIman nArAyaNa there but only his iShTa devata bhuvaneshvarI standing there with shanka and chakram. Since my iShta deivam is mInAkShI amman, he suggested that I should visualize and try to see only mInAkShI in all deities. This will give focus and strengthen the bhakti towards ambaaL. It is one of beautiful aspects of smArta-s bhAvana. Instead of refusing to worship other deities, one learns to see that Ishwara in the form his iShTa devata permeates all names and forms. Hence one can go to a mosque or church and still worship ambaaL there. This beautifully harmonizes with the verse "vAsanAt vAsudevasya ..." AUM shrImatre namaH Ravi Note: I will continue the mIna netrI postings from tomorrow. In the last ten days, I had to go out of town twice to be in the presence of shrI mAtA amR^itAnandamayI devI in LA and Dallas, hence had no time to spare. ------ eGroups.com home: - Simplifying group communications
