Guest guest
Namaskar, Ganesh wrote: >>Can anyone tell me about the importance of Meru worship in SriVidya upasana<< The worship of Sriyantra forms a heart piece of Srividya worship. There are three forms of Sriyantra, viz. flat, half-meru and meru. The half-meru and meru are 3 dimensional Sriyantras, the meru having higher steps than the half-meru, making it pyramid like rather than halfround. The sriyantra has been shown in experiments with conversion of sound into form to be the form of the sound Om. Every part of a yantra is charged with the subtle divine energies of the bija-mantra that creates it. In Srividya's Sriyantra worship we make offerings to the shaktis residing in the different parts of the Sriyantra, viz. the 8 directions of each of the square enclosures, the lotus-pedals and each of the 43 triangles, around the innermost triangle, in it and in the bindu. The Sriyantra is also a diagram of creation, in which the Divine Mother, the original Shakti manifests Herself in ever grosser and more diverse forms which the basis and very structure of creation, which, whether you look at it from the standpoint of Advaita Vedanta or of the Tantras, is but a form of That Energy. The purpose of the worship of the rows of shaktis in Sriyantra, proceeding from the outer enclosures to the centra, is to internalise and remerge the energies starting from the grossest to the most subtle, to Herself who is the Bindu-maNDala-vaasinii, Parabrahma-svaruupiNii, Mahaa-Tripurasundari. >> and how its related to Kundalini. << The steps of the Mehru are correlated with the chakras in the body during nyaasa, as well as in antaryaaga. Different traditions of Srividya differ slightly in this. The one e.g., followed in the Kanchi Kamakoti Kamakshi Temple, says that below Muladhara there are two more chakras, one being called Kulasahasraara, the second viSusaMGYa. The bhuupura (three square enclosures) then correspond to the kula-sahasraara, the 16-dala-padma to viSusaNGYa, the 8-dala-padma to mUlAdhAra, the 8-trikona to svAdhiSThAna, the outer 10-trikona to maNipUra, the inner 10-trikona to anAhata, the 8-trikona to vishuddhi, the innermost trikona to lambikAgra (situated at the hight of the vulva), and bindu to AGYA. The (akula)-sahasraara corresponds to the turIya, beyond bindu. >>And if you know anywebsite giving info about these please let me know<< I'll check it up. I have seen a magazine of Srividya Peetha in NY state giving details. Their system is a little different of course. I know they are on the net, but I'm not aware, whether they publish these things on the net. I saw the magazine at a priests house in Kanchi. so I don't know whether they distribute it freely. I also have to search out the web-address again. Om Om Om

I have not visited their site in the recent past though. Besides this shrI chaitanyananda, has a huge library according to the page. Must be quite a valuable resource. I remember reading that his guru in Andhra Pradesh has built (or building) an meru temple. Page has the details. They also have book called shrIvidya pUjA vidhAnam in Tamil for 50 dollars in US (which I have). You can find upto-date info in the page. They may have the sahasranamam-s which you enquired about. Guest guest
I found the magazine in publications at the website, but only 2 very old issues, and when I tired to download them, one was not linked to a file, the other gave all jumble except the few lines below. The true magazine is at least 80 or 100 pages of detailed text and full of illustrations. ============= Please check out the Peetam's page on the World Wide Web HYPERLINK http://www.srividya.org http://www.srividya.org As you know the production of the Sri Chakra Malar is a costly undertaking, please send us an e-mail to HYPERLINK peetam peetam if you can receive the malar as an attachment. Guest guest
Dear Ravi and Lotus?(If I can know your name better) Many thanks for giving me useful information on Meru. I have visited Vidya.org but the stuff given there are very introductory. They also have book published mainly on Meru and Srividya. Anyway the good news is that I was presented with the following books from my Guru Sree Saradhananda Bharathi of Saradha Peetam. They are in tamil and give the full details about Sree Vidya Puja worship. The title is 'Sree Vidya Nithyanu Santhanam' by InjiKollai Y.V. Sashtri and You can get the copy under the following address InjiKollai Y.V. Sashtri "Sri Chinthamani" "Sri Nath Flats" 20/8,Postal colony I street, West Mambalam, Madras-33. Another book is 'Sree DashaMaha Vidya Sree Lalithambika Maha Yaga kramam' Published by SriBalanandaSuvasini Mandali Shishyaikagal' 67,West Ponnurangam Street, R.S.Puram Coimbatore -641 002. Ph:432087. wonderful books I am currently going thro this. I am also currently practising the NavaVarna Kirtans of Sri MuthuSwamy Dishkitar. If anybody know how this NavaVarna Kirtans was composed and its importance that will be of great help to me , going by the name i assume it is on Nava-Varana Devi. All the songs start with 'Sri Kamalambika' "SriKundaliKumari Kutile Chandi Charasara savithri Chamundi GuniniGuharini Guhey Gurumurthey Thuvaam Namami Kamakshi" thanks OM Deviyai Namah Ganesh _____________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Lotus is the e-mail ID of svAmi vishvarUpananda of Omkarananda Ashram (HQ at Rishikesh). Svamiji is a shrI vidya upasaka and very helpful. In fact, svAmiji is also a co-administrator of this list. They have their page at http://www.geocities.com/~omkara/ Book published by www.srividya.org is 650+ pages and has a lot of details. It has many aShtorams and also lalitA and mahAshodashI sahasranamam. I have read very little on shrIchakra, and I know next to nothing on this subject. The commentaries on lalitAsahsranAma also throw some light on meru (refer the names sumerumadhyashR^ingastha and meru nilaya). There is excellent commentary published by Ammachi Publications in English which quite faithfully follows bhAskararAya's commentary (www.ammachi.org). Some of the intricate details of shrIchakram is described in uttarapIThika of trishatI by Lord hayagrIva ( who is the AdhAram for all vidya-s) to sage agastya. He explains what is shakti akSharam, what is shivAkSharam, what is ubhayAkSharam; also what is shakti chakram, shiva chakram, how they correspond to each other. IT IS A MUST READ for all shrIvidyopAsaka-s. Besides this I have heard that bhAvanopaniShad makes an eloborate comparison of shrIchakra with human body. But I have not read it. The word merudhaNDa means spinal cord. In the sUkShma body of a person (not in the sthoola), the spinal cord enshrines the sacred chakra-s. May be the three dimensionality of the meru, is a hint to indicate this. Besides this I know little about the significance of meru over flat shrIchakra and I am quite eager to learn it.
