Dear Members,

Before you read this forwared message, it is my duty to

introduce shrI Dr. V. Sadagopan.

Dr.Varadachari Sadagopan is from Oppiliappan Koil in Tamil Nadu,

India and is a student of bhakti-laden compositions of Sri

Muththuswamy Dikshitar, Sri Shyama Shastri, and Sri Thyagaraja,

which they composed to pay their reverence to their aradhana

murti-s.

Dr. Sadagopan holds a Doctor of Science degree from MIT and has

served IBM Research as an Executive at the IBM T.J.Watson

Research Center for 26 years. Currently he is working on

Telecommunications, Multimedia, and Educational Delivery Systems

through Distance Learning. He has written a few books and many

articles on Carnatic Music and Hindu Philosophy.

Dr. V. Sadagopan is scholar in shrIvaiShNava sampradayam and his

breadth and depth of knowledge is well admired and respected by many

(He contributes very regularly to the bhakti list which you can read

from

/arcindex.cgi?listname=bhakti and

http://www.best.com/~mani/sv/bhakti/archives/index.html ).

Personally I was benefitted by Dr. Sadagopan a lot through two of his

manuscripts (one on devi mInanetrI by shyAmashAstri and the other 8

navaratnamAla kR^iti-s, other on 14 kritis by shrI muttusvAmi

diikshitar on ambaaL as meenAkshI, these kritis are also classified in

the form of navAvaraNa kriti-s). All these kriti-s I wish (by ambaaL's

grace) translate and make them available through the WWW. It will be

presented under his pen name nAdapriyan. Besides this I was benfitted

by Dr. Sadagopan's valuable advise on the daily pooja to shalagrama I

have, it was his advice that I should meditate on gAyatrI since I am

not initiated into ashTakSharam or panchAkShari. I took that to heart

and now find it most satisfying to meditate on the supreme being in

different name and forms using gAyatrI.

It is indeed our fortune to have a scholar and bhakta of this

magnitude on our list.

Dear Sri Ganesh DeivasikhAmaNI :

I am a student of Sri Dikshithar's

NavAvaraNa Krithis on KamaLAmbhA ,

NeelOthpalAMbhA and AbhayAmbhA .

All of them deal with the glory of AmbhAL

and the KamalAmbhA NavAvaraNa Krithis

deal with Sri VidhyA UpAsana ( NavAvaraNa PoojA ).

Besides their immense maanthric significance ,

their SangItha Saasthric significance is

profound .

I have lengthy essays on the padhams and

the Tattvams used by Sri Dikshithar based on

Sri LalithA SahasranAmam , Sri LalithA Trisathi ,

Devi Upanishads and other source literature.

I would like to give those manuscripts in Tamil

with Sanskrit inserts to some one in India for use by

the VidvAns to teach the students not only the Krithi ,

but also the substantive Bhakthi anubhavam and

the anushtAna Vaibhavam of Sri Dhikshithar

as a Sri VidyA UpAsakar of significance .

I have to find a way to get them to Madras

instead of them languishing here .

Any suggestions on this movement of these

manuscripts for Music Libraries in India would be

most welcome .Copies can be made for intersted

bhakthAs of Sri VidhyA ParamEsvari.

At this point , I am happy to mention

that my articles on the Nava RathnamAlikA

krithis of Sri ShyAmA SaasthrigaL on Sri MeenAkshi

have been given to Sri Ravi Mayavaram and are beginning

to be serialized in this list under the pen name of

Nadha Priyan .Sri Ravi Mayavaram has started the serialization

with the first krithi ,where Sri Dikshithar pays

his tribute to Sri MeenAkshi as

Sri BaalA SvarUpiNi . These are gems of Musical

significance by the ThALa Brahmam , Sri ShyAmA Saasthrigal

coming from a great line of Sri VidhyA UpAsakAs .

These essays were written as research articles some ten years

ago for the benefit of my sister in India , who is a student

of SangItha KalAnidhi Sri K.V.NaarAyaNa Swamy and have

been shown to SangItha KalAnidhi Sri Semmangudi

SrinivAsa Iyer also. They have encouraged me to give

it to the Madras Music academy and I never got to it.

If AmbhAL wills , these manuscripts would find their

way into the hands of NaadhOpAsakAs .Until then nothing

will happen .

Sincerely ,

V.Sadagopan
