Guest guest
shrii devii uvaacha : aashvaananaa vayoH priitiH shaastra vishvaasine tvayaa | raajyaM deyaM shiro deyaM na deyaa shoDashaakSharii || 10 || shrii devii spoke: O horse faced one (Lord hayagriiva), we are pleased by your faith and trustworthiness in the scripture (by keeping it confidential). One can easily give away the kingdom, even one's head, but shoDashaakSharii should not be given away (that easily). The purpose of shrii lalitaa devii coming with HER consort kaameshvara is to enable the sage agastya to receive the instruction on lalita trishati and through him the world may benefit. But SHE had earlier commanded the text has to be kept secret and not to be disclosed. Hence, here SHE praises shrii hayagriiva for keeping his word by denying it the most worthy disciple sage agastya. [to be continued] Note: there are few paTha bhedam-s in these verses, I am giving only one of those and not indicating where they differ. Most books on trishati indicate that.
