In split form,

nyaayaaH paraspara vibhinna dishaH sahasraM

uccaavacaani ca bhavanti upabR^iMhaNaani |

evaM sthite girisute nigamopalaanaaM

taatparya saaraM avadhaarayituM xamaH kaH || 9 ||

In this verse shrI dIkshita takes up the difficulty of

understanding miimaamsa shaastra-s.

The thousands of miimaamsa shaastra-s (nyaayaH sahasraM) lead us

in different directions by their conflicting statements

(paraspara vibhinna dishaH). The commentaries written on them

(upabR^iMhaNaani ca) confuse the readers even further by their

differing interpretations (uccaavacaani bhavanti). When this is

the case (evaM sthite), O daughter of himavaan (girisute), who

has the skill (kaH xamaH) to understand or grasp (avadhaarayituM)

the essence (taatparya saaraM) of vedas which are hard to

understand [hardness compared to stones] (nigamopalaanaaM).

In these verses, shrI niilakaNTha diikshitaa is building a case

to dismiss jnAna marga as something extremely difficult follow.

Essentially first half of the text focusses on dismissing the

other paths as too difficult or impossible or will not help, and

emphasize on surrender to ambaaL. After surrendering, shrii

diikshita goes on describe the splendour of ambaaL's beauty from

her feet to head. In one of those verses, he brings this

comparison of vedas being so hard to understand (hard like

stones) and says, O jagan mAtA, your feet are so red in color

beacause you walk on the hard stones of vedaanta!.
