gauriiM kaaJNchana padminii taTagR^ihaaM shrii sundaresha priyaaM

niipaaraNya suvarNa kandukaa parikriiDaa vilopaaM umaam.h |

shriimat.h paaNDya kulaachalaagra vilasat.h ratnapradiipaayutaaM

miinakShiiM madhureshvariiM sukhadharaaM shrii paaNDyabaalaaM bhaje || 1||

 

 

gaurii = guh + ari => guh means cave or darkness

ari means enemy

One who is the enemy of darkness, One who dispels darkness with

HER light. SHE who is golden colored.

 

KaaJNchana = Gold (without any blemish/spots)

padminii = with lotus

taTagR^ihaaM = taTaakam is pond

grihaam means living

One who lives in the Pond/lake of golden lotuses

 

shrii sundaresha priyaaM

One who is loved by shrii Sundaresha

 

niipaaraNya = Dark/dense forest

suvarNa = Gold(good color)

kanduka = ball

parikriidaa = sport

vilopaaM = involved in

 

One who is involved/interested in playing with golden ball in the

dark/dense forests

 

umaam = Daughter of Himashaila (He is supposed to be immovable)

But "uma" can move around

O Uma

 

shriimat.h paaNDya kulaachalaagra

Top of the mountain(achala=cannot move) called PaaNDya kula(dynasty)

 

vilasat = one who stays there

 

One who stays on top of the mountain called (shriimat.h)PaaNDya kulaa

 

ratnapradiipaayutaaM = One who is with the shine like diamond

 

One who is with the shining of diamond staying on top of the mountain

by name (shriimat.h)PaaNDya kulaa

 

miinakshiiM = one whose eyes are like fish

 

madureshvariiM = Lord(feminine version) of Madhura(Madhurai)

 

sukhadharaaM = one who bears/embodiment of happiness(sukham)

 

 

shrii paaNDyabaalaaM = (shrii) child of paaNDya

 

bhaje = I worship (HER)

 

 

One who dispels darkness with HER light, One who's abode is the Pond

filled with Golden lotus(es), One who is involved in playing with golden

ball in the dense forest, one who is the daughter of Himashaila(or

Himavanta), One who shines as a diamond on top of the mountain by name

(shriimat.h)PaaNDya kulaa, one whose eyes are like fish, Ruler of

Madhura(Madhurai), one who is embodiment of happiness, child of paaNDya,

to her I worship.

This was translated by my wife Saraswathy for me two+ years

back. I never got to compile this and send it to jaguar site. I do not

think I will be able to do it atleast for an year. So I thought I will

post this nine gems during this auspicious navarAtri period.
