Guest guest
AUM shrImAtre namaH Dear ambaaL bhakta-s: I welcome the new members shrI Ramu Thiagarajan and shrI Sunder Hattangadi to . Please post an self introduction about yourselves, so that everyone will know you better. But if you find it uncomfortable it is not necessary. I know shrI sunderji for sometime and he is an active contributor to the famous Sanskrit site ftp://jagaur.cs.utah.edu/private/sanskrit/ Recently sunderji had added kAmAkShI suprabhaatam to that server. This was composed by one shrI lakshmikanta sharma, at the behest of our beloved paramacharya shrI chandrasekharendra sarasvatii svamigal. The Author salutes both mahAsvamigaL and shrI jayendrar in the work. Right at the introduction, the shrI sharma apologizes to ambaaL for singing suprabhaatam to HER. Why? SHE is jagat rakShakii and does not even blink HER eyes (for if SHE did the worlds will perish), it our error that we attribute our tendencies like sleeping and waking up to ambaaL and sing suprabhaatam to HER. SHE is ever awake. In the next verse, he goes on to say that if your morning is auspicious and good, so will be mine. Hence, I sing this suprabhaatam to you so that my morning will be a suprabhaatam. jagadavana vidhau tvaM jaagaruukaa bhavaani tava tu janani nidraamaatmavatkalpayitvaa . pratidivasamahaM tvaaM bodhayaami prabhaate tvayi kR^itamaparaadhaM sarvametaM xamasva .. 1.. yadi prabhaataM tava suprabhaataM tadaa prabhaataM mama suprabhaatam.h . tasmaatprabhaate tava suprabhaataM vaxyaami maataH kuru suprabhaatam.h .. 2.. May be someone on the list can take up the translation of this shrI kAmAkShI suprabhaatam. This work also brings up the point of kAnchi kaamaakShi, madurai miinAkShi and kaashi vishAlAkShi in the verse, tvaM vishvanaathasya vishaalanetraa haalasyanaathasya nu miinanetraa . ekaamranaathasya nu kaamanetraa kaameshajaaye kuru suprabhaatam.h .. 23.. Also, unlike other works, author is technically correct in saying "kuru suprabhaatam" rather than "tava suprabhaatam". -- Also we can think that when we sing suprabhaatam, we are requesting the divinity dormant in us to be awaken. May ambaaL bestow us this grace. With respects, Ravi ------------- na jnAyate ma hitaM nitarAM upAyo dIno.asmi devI samayAcharaNAkShamo.asmi | tat.h tvAM ananya sharaNaH sharaNaM prapadye mInAkShI vishva jananIM jananI mamaiva || -------------
