Action and intention

AUM shrImAtre namaH

There was a question about asymmetry citing two incidents from

purana-s. The key thing that determines the result behind a

particular action is the intention or more accurately the

sa.nkalpa behind the action. Krishna ate so many times in his

life not every time durvasa et al got full. shiva did so many

liilaa-s in thiruviLaiyaaDal puraNam, not always everyone felt

whatever happened to him. Whenever God does a sa.nkalpa that

certain thing should happen that will happen. What SHE wills

depends on what liilaa SHE wishes to play.

This is true with great saints also. For a God realized saint is

one with God. I will cite an interesting story related to one

such saint. The saint is mAtA amr^itAnandamayI (MA) and she has a

disciple called Amritaprana (AP). It so happened once MA gave AP

a particular mantra to meditate on to enable AP's progress in

self realization. After some time, a childless couple came to

MA. For the lady, MA gave a mantra to meditate on. Again by

chance AP was there and overheard the mantra. She was shocked, it

was a same mantra given to her. Being a renunciant she could not

imagine the situation of she getting pregnant. In confusion,

later, she approached MA and asked for an explanation. After a

big laugh, MA explained that it is not the mantra, but Her

sa.nkalpa behind the mantra that matters. Sometimes, great

saints can intervene even in cases where is no possibility for a

certain thing, by their unshakeable sankalpa create a

possibility.

This is precisely why one should not meditate on a mantra without

initiation. It is the guru's sankalpa that gives the positive

force and guidance in the mantra japa. The force that is

associated with it is much greater than many nuclear bombs. To

harness it positively one need a guru, else it may destroy the

sAdhaka. This is not true only for powerful mantra-s like

panchadashakShari. Even mantra-s like aShtAkShara which we think

is parama saumyam and wonder what harm will come if meditated

upon without initiation, also needs initiation.

The is whole Universe is created, preserved, and destroyed by the

sa.nkalpa of jaganmata. May shrImAtA will that all of us

constantly contemplate on HER lotus feet.
