The thought of mAnasa pujA emphasized in bAvopanishad is seen in many hymns

of Shri Shankara. The famous "mantra maatrukaapushhpamaalaa" of Shri

Shankara expresses the supreme idea of mAnasa puja and serves as the best

way to worship the universal mother.

O! Mother of the universe! In the midst of rolling waves in the ocean of

nectar shines the island of gems (maNidvIpa), there, encompassed by the

heavenly wish-granting trees (kalpakavaaTikaa), And within the brilliant

enclosure of kadamba trees, in the hall with thousands of diamond pillars,

On a marvelous pedestal, let me visualize that throne of yours (simhaasanaa)

stud with precious gems of mental thought.

Isolated at the center of the Sri Chakra shining with its three spheres of

moon, sun and fire, with a splendor of rising sun, Holding the lasso, the

sphere, the bow and the arrows in your hands; Your crown carrying the digit

of the moon, Your happy face displaying the radiant smile; let me visualize

you.

My offering of a diamond seat for you, held by ishaana and others as support

with siva as a single plank resting in them, please accept; my padyam of

water (for washing the feet) scented with saffron, sandalwood, and other

perfumes; my arghaya (for washing hands) filled with gems and akshhatA. With

devotion I submit pure water for your achamaniyam, O! You nectar-filled

ocean of kindness; all these let me visualize for your pleasure.
