The basis is, in wars generally no.1 will face no.1 and so on. mantriNii is no.2 on devi's army and vishukra in no.2 in the asura-s side. Similarly, vaarahii is no3 and vishanga is no.3. Based on this he concludes in favor of the puraaNa. Like your post he also clearly brings out the equal status of mantriNii with lalitaa. SHE is raaja shyaamaLa, raaja maata~Ngii and mudrinii (SHE bears the raaja mudra). Besides kalidaasa meditates on HER like lalitaa (chaturbhuje verse). Please write more often to the list.
