Shankara meditates on her as 'prathama pushhpiNI'. That would also mean just then blossomed. Especially 'shyamaLa' is meditated upon like this. She is ever at 16 and hence too she is 'pratama pushhpiNi', ' rudhirabinduniilaambaraaM' denotes madhurai 'chuungudi pudavai' a special kind of sari famous in madhurai made of cotton mainly with dots on a plain background. > >Note: Please send your comments and notes to the list >itself. Guest guest
This is the 11th name of shrii miinaaxii ashhTottaram. pushhpam means flower, since SHE has flower in HER hand SHE is called pushhpiNii. The term pushhpin means flowering or blossoming. When a flower blossoms, it is fresh and young. SHE is ever youthful and ever new like a freshly blossomed flower. Hence, SHE is called pushhpiNii. SHE as brahman is the ever new joy and unfathomable bliss. Agastya's yoga miinaaxii stotram salutes HER as sahasraara padme. pushhpam here can denote this thousand petalled lotus and SHE blossoms there. In fact, all the chakras, can be represented as lotuses with different number petals. When SHE as the kuNDalini awakened by the yogic sAdhana (or intense bhakti), SHE rises through the sushhumna naaDi to sahasrara. In that process, SHE makes all these chakras active (in other words the lotuses there blossom) hence SHE is called pushhpiNii Corrections and comments welcome. -- Ravi Note: Please send your comments and notes to the list itself. Even though I am delighted to receive personal correspondence from you, these questions and comments will be useful to others as well. I wanted the replies to posted to the list because it may start more interesting discussion on ambaaL. One thing that does concern me is the very little participation from the members. We are 30 now, yet only 5 or 6 of us post often. There are so many works on ambaaL and if even the members decide to post one article (few lines) a fortnight we will have 60 more messages filled with devotion on jaganmaata to read. I am immensely grateful to all those who post and make our days filled with thoughts on the supreme being. With respects, Ravi (i will reconfigure so that the replies will go to the list) AUM shrImAtre namaH
