I would request the members to contribute their knowledge about

ambaaL in HER aspect as maata~Ngii.

>From what I have learnt is, Sage mata~Nga did penance on ambaaL

and got a boon that SHE should take birth as his daughter. And

And jaganmaata in that avatara as maata~NgI taught the sa.ngiita

shaastra to Sage mata~Nga who later authored some famous books in

that field.

 

I would request the members to share their knowledge on this

topic.

 

I was told by two of my acquaintances that Sage mata~Nga

belonged to the fourth varNa, and he did penance (like

vishvaamitra) to get the title of brahma R^ishhi. But ambaaL told

him that SHE cannot grant that, asked him choose something else.

So wise of mata~Nga that he asked HER a greater boon that SHE

should be known to the world as his daughter. Can some one give

reference to this?

 

In a telephone conversation, Arvind Krishna told me that it may

not be correct and said there is reference about Sage mata~Nga in

raamaayaNa. Also pointed out that like durga taking avatara

before krishna, maata~Ngii avataram took place before raama.

 

Another thing, ambaaL's avatara as miinaakShi has a sambhandam

with maata~Ngii. Whenever there is a reference to maata~Ngii

(also kadamba vanam) one can infer miinaakShi saMbhandam. The

fact that shrii miinaakShii is also a mahaa paNDitai in sa.ngiita

shaastram gives that link. The first name in shrii miinaakShii

ashhTottaram is 'AUM maata~Ngyai namaH" and SHE is known as raaja

maata~Ngii.
