Guest guest
This is the fourteenth name in shrii miinaaxii ashhTottaram. This is name is present both in the sahasranaamam and trishatii. kalaavatii means one who possess kala-s. Commenting on this name shrI shankara says, that she possess these inorder to enable HER devotees to meditate on HER. Here the term kala could denote the 64 art forms. Or parts of the body like head, hands so on. Or the digit of moon which is known as kala. Like shiva who has crescent moon on HIS head, SHE also has that. HE is chandrasekhara, SHE is chandrasekharii. They are one and the same. In one of the messages posted, Aravind Krishna gave a moving and beautiful description on why ambaaL wears abharaNa-s like keyuram and haaram. SHE is such an overflowing effulgent saundaryam, without these marks (in the context of this name, kala-s), one will not know where SHE begins and where SHE ends. SHE is like akaasham, SHE pervades all. Yet, out of infinite compassion SHE limits HERSELF to some forms so that we can meditate on HER.
