Guest guest
This is the 17th name in the miinaaxii ashhTottara. sumadhyamaa means slender waisted. madhyam indicated the waist region and representative of feminine beauty and su means good. SHE has a beautiful waist region. Compare this with the lalitaa sahsranaamam name "tanumadhyaa". Time is divided into past, present and future. Present being the middle one, madhyam can indicate this. Past is in memory and future is in anticipation. Both are in mind and are unreal. Present alone is truth. SHE is that auspicious present. Present or now is like a singularity for those who are in the sway of time (or mAyA), as we resolve time finer and finer, if time line is a continua, then the future rushes into the past and the moment life happens in lost for a normal person. We waste our life in memories of the past or dreams of future. But when the mind is still through meditation, one realizes that SHE is shining always beyond the sway of time, always in the eternal now. Hence, SHE is called sumadhyamaa. HER unlimited form can be realized only by transcending time. AUM sumadhyamaayai namaH Your comments and corrections are welcome.
