anga devatas

sri matre namah

namaste!

i want to know what does anga devata,

upanga devata and pratyanga devata mean and

their importance.

i read that navakshari Bala Tripura Sundari

is anga devata ,Annapoorneswari as upanga devata

and Asvaroodaamba as pratyanga devatas of

Sri Lalitamahatripurasundari.

can anybody kindly explain.

Anga Devatas are the devatas that make the main angas or limbs or the diety.

Upangas are secondary limbs such as the extremes and pratyangas are even

more external limbs such as the fingers attached to the extremes.

Yes, what this all has to mean is that they all are parts of her such as the

limbs/organs, extremes and their attachments are parts of the body. Thus

they form greater and lesser parts or aspects of Tripurasundari.

 

This is how it was explained to me by Kamakoti Shastri, mirasdar of Kanchi

Kamakshi Temple.
