Out of the 1000, five naama-s that refer to her hair are

champak.h Ashoka punnAga saugandhika lasat.h kachA

nIla chikurA

vAma keshI

barbarAlakA

vyoma keshI

She is enshrined with her special hair beauty as,

sugandhikuntaLaa – Trichi (with maatru bhuteshwara)

aaraaLakeshi – kuLitalai (with ratnagiriishwara) (These are the two shrines

that I remember, if you know more please post them to the list).

Shiva took the form of a nurse (maatru bhuteshwara) to help his devote. Devi

came to see his skill. He was perfect in all aspects but for his kesha. He

being harikesha or jaTaadhara did not get the fragrance that devi had. Hence

she is ‘sugandhi kuntaLaa’ or ‘suveNi’. ‘aLiveNi’ is another common usage.

SHE has beautiful tresses.

The term veNi also means river. SHE is the basis of the deities of the

rivers like ganga, yamuna, and so on. Also, like the rivers nourish and

sustain life, SHE sustains all life in this cosmos. Hence, SHE is called

suveNii.
